The Story
Hand-built in Graz, Austria — the only place Mercedes makes G-Wagens. Each engine is signed by the AMG technician who built it (look under the hood — there's a plaque). This is what makes it different from a regular Mercedes engine: one engineer assembled this entire 5.5L twin-turbo V8 by hand.
The body has been pretty much unchanged since 1979 because it doesn't need to be. It still has three locking differentials. It still has a ladder frame. It still climbs anything you point it at. And in AMG trim, it does 0–60 in 5.3 seconds — quicker than most "sports cars."
This particular one: black on black on black. AMG diamond-stitched leather inside (you'll see — the photos are real). Black 20" AMG wheels. Red painted brake calipers. The grille guard up front, side steps, and the spare-tire cover on the rear. It's been kept clean. Two owners. WA-titled, registered, and ready to drive home.
If you want a vehicle that turns heads at every red light, climbs a curb at the valet, and still shows up at the country club — there are very few options. This is one of them.
